Uninstalling Storacle

Uninstalling removes Storacle and everything it recorded. A few minutes beforehand keeps your billing and your history in hand.

Before you uninstall

Do these in order. The first one is easiest while Storacle is still installed.

1

Cancel your seats, if you pay for any

Uninstalling Storacle does not cancel a paid subscription. Press Manage License Seats in Storacle Configuration to open the billing portal, and cancel there. You keep the paid features until the end of the month you have paid for, and nothing renews after that.

If your org never purchased seats, there is nothing to cancel: the trial and the free tier take no card.
2

Decide whether to keep a copy of your history

Uninstalling deletes every record Storacle holds, including your storage history. Salesforce can save a copy for you during the uninstall, but only for two days, so decide now who will download it.

The copy is described below, under Keeping your data.
3

Clear anything of yours that refers to Storacle

Salesforce will not remove a package while something outside it still refers to it. If your team built anything on Storacle, such as a custom report type on one of its objects, or a flow or formula that reads one of its fields, change or delete it first.

Storacle ships no reports, dashboards, or report folders of its own, so none of your reports can be sitting in a Storacle folder that the uninstall has to empty.

Manage License Seats appears for anyone who holds Storacle's billing permission; Permissions covers who has it.

How to uninstall

Uninstalling is done in Salesforce Setup, by someone with Salesforce's Download AppExchange Packages permission. A System Administrator has it.

  1. In Setup, search for Installed Packages and open it.
  2. Press Uninstall next to Storacle.
  3. Choose whether Salesforce should save a copy of Storacle's data.
  4. Confirm that you want to uninstall, and press Uninstall.

What the uninstall removes

Everything Storacle installed and everything it recorded goes with it. Storacle creates nothing in your org outside its own package, so there is nothing of Storacle's to clean up afterwards.

Your records

  • Your storage history: every measurement of the org and of each object
  • Snapshots and the definitions that produce them
  • Alerts, alert definitions, and each person's alert preferences
  • The history of engine runs and Storacle's own log
  • Your settings and your list of tracked objects
  • The Storacle user list, including who holds a seat

The package

  • The Storacle app, its tabs, and its pages
  • The three Storacle permission sets, and every assignment of them
  • The nightly measurement job, which Salesforce removes along with the code it runs

If you install Storacle again later, it starts again with no history.

Keeping your data

When you choose to save a copy during the uninstall, Salesforce builds an export file of the package's data. Once the uninstall finishes, Salesforce emails a link to the file to the person who ran it, and lists the file on the Installed Packages page.

Salesforce deletes the export file two days after the uninstall completes. Download it and store it somewhere else before then.

If the uninstall does not finish

Look in the inbox of the person who started the uninstall. When an uninstall fails, the Installed Packages page does not say why; Salesforce sends that person an email naming each component it could not remove and the reason. The email can take a few minutes to arrive.

The usual reason is something in your org that refers to Storacle. Change or remove what the email names, then uninstall again. Salesforce's help article Uninstall a Managed Package lists the kinds of reference that stop an uninstall.

Billing after you uninstall

If you uninstalled before cancelling, the subscription is still active, and Manage License Seats left with the package. Go to Stripe's billing portal, enter your billing email, and Stripe emails you a sign-in link. Cancel there.

If one billing email pays for more than one org, the emailed link may not open the org you meant. Contact support for help reaching the right one. The billing questions on Pricing cover how cancelling works.
