Troubleshooting
What Storacle tells you when something is wrong, what each message means, and how to put it right.
Reading the setup status
Open Storacle Configuration from the App Launcher, or from the settings button on the Storacle Control Panel on Home. The Setup section at the top reports one of two states, with a line showing when it last checked. Press Confirm Operational Status to check again at any time.
Operational
A daily engine job exists, the user who owns it is active, and that user holds everything a run needs. The engine will collect tonight.
What to do: Nothing. The section collapses behind Show Detail because there is nothing to act on.
Engine Not Running
Something stops the nightly run, so nothing is being collected. The line under the banner names the first fault, and the Engine Schedule list beneath it shows which check failed.
What to do: Find the fault in the table below. Storacle Home shows the same problem as a banner.
When the engine is not running
Engine Not Running has four kinds of cause. Schedule the Engine fixes the first two. The other two are permissions on the user who owns the job, which an administrator grants in Setup; Storacle lists them under the Engine Schedule checks with the fix beside each one.
| What is wrong | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| No daily engine job exists | Press Schedule the Engine. It schedules the engine under you. |
| The user who owns the job is deactivated | Press Schedule the Engine. It removes the stopped job and schedules a new one under you. Removing a job that belongs to someone else needs Modify All Data. |
| The owner is missing Run Storacle Engine | Assign the Storacle Engine permission set to the user who owns the job. |
| The owner is missing API Enabled, View Roles, or View Setup and Configuration | Grant the missing permission on that user's profile, or on a permission set of your own assigned to them. No administrator rights are needed for that grant. |
When the checks themselves could not run
Occasionally Storacle cannot run its engine checks at all. The banner still reads Engine Not Running, but the Engine Schedule checks show Not verified and the line under the banner says the checks could not be run. That is not a verdict on your org: nothing is known to be wrong, and Schedule the Engine has nothing to repair. Press Confirm Operational Status to run the checks again. If they keep failing, contact support.
When configuration is missing
An install creates reference data Storacle depends on. If any of it is missing, Storacle Home and Storacle Configuration both show a warning that Storacle is missing configuration it creates when it is installed. Without that data, snapshots, forecasting, and alerting do not run, even while the engine itself reads Operational.
The usual cause is an org Storacle was copied into, such as a refreshed sandbox, where no install ever ran. It can happen in any org: an install whose setup work kept failing, or records someone deleted later. Storacle counts the records each time the page loads, so the warning reflects what the org holds today.
Press Restore Configuration. On Home it opens Storacle Configuration, where the same button does the work. It puts back:
- the storage-factor exceptions
- the system objects Storacle leaves out of measurement
- the snapshot definitions
- the alert definitions, and each user-list member's alert preferences for them
It runs straight away and adds only what is missing, so pressing it again is harmless. The warning clears once everything is back. If a step fails, Storacle says which ones, and each failure is recorded in the Storacle log. Restore Configuration is free and needs no seat.
When Storacle is missing from the App Launcher
The Storacle app and its tabs are opened by the Storacle permission set. An install assigns it to whoever installed, but if that assignment fails the install carries on rather than stopping, and an org can also lose its last holder later. Either way the app looks uninstalled.
An administrator brings it back by assigning the Storacle permission set to themselves in Setup, under Permission Sets. Then open Storacle Configuration and add yourself to the user list. The Permissions page explains what each set unlocks.
Other common problems
No data has appeared yet
The engine measures once a night, so a fresh install shows nothing until its first run. Press Run Engine Now on Storacle Home to take a measurement immediately, and check that the Engine toggle on Home is on. A forecast needs a run of daily measurements before it can project anything; the Setup Guide says how long.
Read the Setup Guide →Alerts are not arriving the way you expect
Which alerts exist, who receives their email, and what can be tuned are covered on the Alerts page.

Each Storacle task is unlocked by a permission set. The Permissions page says which set to assign for running the engine, managing the user list, or managing billing.

Can a user on the Salesforce Integration license run the engine?
No. The Salesforce Integration license cannot run the Storacle engine. Schedule the engine as a user on a license that can, holding Run Storacle Engine, API Enabled, View Roles, and View Setup and Configuration.
Who does the engine run as?
Whoever scheduled it. To move it to someone else, that person unschedules the engine and the new person schedules it again. Because pressing Schedule the Engine makes you the engine, Storacle asks you to confirm first.
Why is Schedule the Engine or Run Engine Now greyed out for me?
Both run as whoever presses them, so both need you to hold Run Storacle Engine, API Enabled, View Roles, and View Setup and Configuration. Storacle says beside the disabled button which of them you are missing and how to get it.
Do I need a seat to fix any of this?
No. Scheduling the engine, Run Engine Now, and Restore Configuration all work on the free tier.
Can troubleshooting lose my measurement history?
No step on this page deletes measurements. Restore Configuration only adds records that are missing, and rescheduling the engine changes who runs it, not what it has already collected.
